The "Red Cross" is on one of the local T.V. stations running a call in for donations to the tornado victims and it has been running for most of the day. They are the biggest scammers in this country. Kind of nice to know that they have a few members out and about in the affected areas but not in any force to say they are helping. They did hand out a few cases of water in the north part of the county I live in that had been hit by the tornado that jumped the Ohio river and destroyed Moscow Ohio. In 1997 we had a large flood destroy our county seat and flooded most of the county. They came in and at that time charged each person $5 for each cup of soup they had. At that time they where ask to leave the county and not to return. I think it is about to happen again ? Never let a tragedy got to waste and not make money off of it.
I've been at post-disater scenes where the Red Cross charges for drinks, sandwiches, etc. On the other hand, all assistance provided by the Salvation Army at these scenes was free of charge.
The current National Commander of the Salvation Army reports annual compensation of $126,920.
The current CEO of the Red Cross (Gail J. McGovern) reports annual compensation of $1,032,000.
You can say what you want about it being a religion based organization, but when things go bad you'll receive much needed help without strings attached when the Salvation Army rolls in.
